For these reasons it is not easy to choose the right worktop for your new kitchen. Which worktop meets your needs best?

Which worktops do we offer?

At Clear Kitchen, kitchen worktops are sold of five types of material.
• Silestone Composite
• Dekton
• Marble
• Granite
• HPL

Dekton worktop

This material is pretty new in the market of kitchen worktops, but is already popular with many consumers. The worktop has the following positive characteristics:

• It is very hard.
• Maximum fire and heat resistance. It can withstand temperatures up to 1200 degrees Celsius.
• Due to its hardness, it is wear-resistant and scratch-resistant; it can hardly be broken.
• The color is easy to combine with other materials and finishes.
• The worktop is 100% color-fast, and therefore highly resistant to UV light.
• The worktops are available in large sizes, so there is often no need for a seam in the worktop.
• It is resistant to stains and water.
• It is low maintenance and hygienic due to its high density.
• 10 year warranty.

Disadvantages of a kitchen top made from Dekton are the following:

• Actually, there are almost no disadvantages with a Dekton top.
• The material is sensitive to point load. This means that if a sharp object, such as a knife, comes down to it, damage can occur.

A Dekton sheet is similar in structure and look to a worktop of Ceramics but where ceramic sheets have a somewhat artificial appearance, Dekton has an aesthetic addition of design level.

Silestone Composite worktop

This worktop is very popular. It is a sheet that is composed of different materials, namely more than 90% of quartz, a bit of granite and resins.

These are the positive features of the kitchen top:

• It is a durable, strong material.
• Due to its strength it is impact-resistant, wear-resistant and scratch-resistant.
• The material has a luxury appearance.
• It has a natural look, resembling natural stone.
• The worktop has a uniform surface; it has no cracks, so bacteria and dirt can not be left behind. It is hygienic.
• A composite sheet is more color-resistant than a natural stone sheet.
• It is available in all kinds of structures and colors, making it suitable for every kitchen.
• It can be made to your needs, tailor-made, because it does not have to be mined.
• It is maintenance-friendly and very stain resistant.
• 25 year warranty.

The disadvantages of this type of worktop are the following:

• The material is sensitive to heat. It is true that composite is heat resistant, but when hot pans are put on, the resin discolours from the leaves, resulting in permanent discoloration.

Marble worktop

A marble worktop is a real eye-catcher in the kitchen. These are the points that make the type of top so unique:

• It is a natural product. That gives your countertop a luxurious, unique look.
• A marble top is durable, lasts for life.
• The material has beautiful veins.
• A marble worktop has unique colors; they are unbeatable.
• The worktop is very hard, making it impact-resistant, wear-resistant and scratch-resistant.
• It has a fairly homogeneous surface. That makes the sheet reasonably hygienic.

Marble also has a number of drawbacks:

• The material needs a bit more maintenance and extra caution because it is a natural product.
• Although the material has heat-resistant properties, it is not completely heat-resistant. If a hot pan is put on when the top is colder, a thermoshock may develop if the surface heats up too quickly. This can cause cracks in the material.
• A marble top is porous, allowing liquid to penetrate. This does not make the top completely hygienic.
• Stains may develop when colored liquid comes on.
• The material is sensitive to detergents that are corrosive. This could be, for example, bleach, descaling agents and unblocking agents. This can affect the color of the top.

Granite worktop

With this material you get natural stone in the kitchen. The cold material gives your kitchen a warm atmosphere. Below are more positive characteristics of the material:

• It gives a luxurious look to your kitchen.
• A granite top is very durable and strong; it gives your kitchen character.
• It is resistant to impact, abrasion-resistant, cut-resistant and scratch-resistant due to its strength.
• It is a 100% natural product. This makes it unique.
• It is a hygienic material.
• A granite sheet is easy to maintain.

These are the disadvantages of the worktop:

• It is slightly porous. As a result, moisture can penetrate the countertop fairly quickly, which can cause permanent damage. For example, aggressive detergent, wine or other corrosive dust can quickly cause damage.
• Due to its unique character, it is difficult to find a top that is exactly the same as yours. If there is a follow-up project for your kitchen, it is better not to choose this material.
• The sheet may become matt if it is not properly maintained and cleaned with care.

In addition to our normal range of granite, we also offer Sensa granite from Consentino. This granite has undergone a special treatment whereby all disadvantages of granite disappear. The worktop then becomes low-maintenance and very stain resistant, while the Sensa worktops have a 15-year guarantee.

HPL worktop

This type of worktop is also called a kitchen top of laminate. The surface is made of plywood, the hard top layer is made of HPL. This abbreviation stands for High Pressure Laminate. A top of this material has the following advantages:

• It has a smooth, non-porous surface. This makes the sheet hygienic and easy to clean. Even stubborn stains can be removed with soft household products.
• It is available in many designs and colors, making it suitable for your kitchen.
• The edge finish has many possibilities. This can be made of solid wood, plastic, aluminum, stainless steel or combinations of these materials.
• It has a good price-quality ratio.

Disadvantages of this type of kitchen are the following:

• The material is not heat-resistant.
• It is not cut-resistant.
